LEAD: Conflict Management a nd Developing Leadership Skills (15 CEHs) Monday and Tuesday, October 17-1 8, 2022
This course is devoted to assisting assessors disco ver individual talents and strengths and examine how those impact/influence their ability to manage and lead. Assessors will compare and contrast the similarities and differences of management and leadership as well as apply effective communication skills in a leadership capacity. Additionally, the course will help assessors develop conflict management skills. Assessors wi ll learn about conflict, conflict management, negotiation skills, and commu nications skills. Real-life examples will be brought up so that assessors understand how to apply these skills to managing appeals, setting expectati ons to meet quintile requirements, working through new property tax laws, b rainstorming solutions to get assessment work done, discussing State Board Equalization orders, and more!
LEAD: Leading by Example when Managing Other s and Work (15 CEHs) Wednesday and Thursday, October 19-20, 2022
This course is devoted to assisting assessors in becoming more effec tive in creating training programs, allocating resources, prioritizing work loads, and continuously improving processes. Assessors will learn about pro ject management principles, resource planning, goal setting, performance me asurements, training strategies, and continuous improvement methodologies. Real-life examples and case studies will be brought up so that assessors un derstand how to apply these skills when creating an effective quintile plan , designing an organizational chart that maximizes resources, measuring emp loyee productivity, and consistently reviewing and improving existing proce sses. In addition, the course assists assessors in becoming more effective leaders. They will learn the traits and skills that make up a successful le ader, the various personalities and strengths seen in the workplace, how to approach hiring and developing a cohesive team, approaching performance re views, and setting clear expectations. Real-life examples and case studies will be brought up so that assessors understand how to apply these skills w hen managing employees, resolving issues, developing a team environment, wr iting performance reviews, and more!
Credits: Each 2-day LEAD module is approved by the Minnesota State Board of Assessors for 15 hours of continuing education.
