Course Description:  This new course has been developed by the MAAO Agricultural Committee. Assessing agricultural properties presents many unique challenges. The main goal of this course will be to instruct attendees, and assist in developing the confidence to work with agricultural properties on a practical basis.  This advanced agricultural course will cover the following topics in depth.

1. The classification, split classification, and tools to use in determining agricultural classification.
2. Valuation strategies, rates, and tables to aid in the valuation of agricultural properties.
3. CER, CPI, ABC soil ratings, and how to utilize them. The emphasis will be on converting to CPI soil ratings.
4. Tips on determination and applying strategies regarding both functional and economic obsolescence for agricultural facilities.
5. Tips on valuing re-purposed agricultural buildings.
6. Determining the requirements for agricultural homestead and linkage of homestead properties under various scenarios.

MAAO Advanced Ag will be limited to a maximum of 48 registrants.  In addition, we will need a minimum of 26 registrants to hold the course.

 

COVID-19 Considerations: MAAO has worked with the event venue for this offering to ensure proper social distancing (each attendee sits at their own banquet table all week), adherence to the Governor’s orders of not exceeding 25% meeting room capacity for events, and COVID-19 catering accommodations. Additionally, sanitizing stations will be provided, face masks will be required at all times, no-contact forehead temperatures will be taken at the beginning of each day, and there will be no passing of paperwork throughout the class. We have talked in detail with the event venue and feel confident that every reasonable precaution is being taken for attendees' health and safety.  This offering is subject to cancellation if mandated by the Governor.  A 100% refund will be processed for any registrant due to a Covid-related cancellation. Attendance at this course is at the risk of the employer and attendee. MAAO will not be held liable.

Credits: Satisfies Property-Type Specific course for AMA Licensure and 15 CEHs including exam, pending State Board approval.

Student Expectations:  This course includes 14 hours of classroom instruction during which students will be expected to participate in discussions, group activities, and coursework that may include but is not limited to reading, homework, problem solving, etc. both during and outside classroom hours.  There is also a 1 hour exam at the end of the course the student should plan to review for.  If alternative testing options are required please contact the course coordinator by email as soon as possible to discuss and we will attempt to make reasonable accommodations.

Cancellation Policy:  Cancellation requests received prior to 8:00 a.m., 5 business days prior to the start of the course will be issued a refund, less a $30 administration fee.  Cancellation requests received after this time or registrants who fail to attend or cancel prior to the cancellation deadline are responsible for the entire fee.  If a registrant is unable to attend the event, a substitute from the jurisdiction that paid the registration fee can attend at no additional charge.  Please send written notification of this change five business days prior to the start of the event to [email protected]Although it is not the policy of MAAO to cancel an event, be it a course or seminar, MAAO does reserve the right to cancel a course or seminar and provide a full refund if the minimum enrollment level is not reached.  Refunds will be issued within 30 days of the date of the course or conference.
