Description: Assessment Laws and Procedures is an introductory 28-hour course dealing with the assessment field in Minnesota.  Participants will learn about property tax laws in Minnesota, real estate law and assessment procedures.  It includes 3-hour Ethics that satisfies licensing requirements.  This course is designed for individuals who are just beginning their study of the assessment field, but also can serve as a review for persons currently working in assessment.  This is a required course for the Certified Minnesota Assessor level of licensure.  This course is approved by the Minnesota State Board of Assessor’s for 28 hours of continuing education, 30 hours with exam.  Note: This class will be a 4-day format. The exam will be on Thursday afternoon.  Class size limit is 45 students.

COVID-19 Considerations: MAAO has made accommodations to ensure proper social distancing at this course and adhere to the Governor’s orders of not exceeding 25% meeting room capacity, by moving to a larger venue with a larger meeting room, allowing each attendee their own 8' table with 6' of space in front and behind. Other adjustments, such as catering considerations, sanitizing stations, and the strongly recommended use of face masks except when seated during course instruction will provide as safe of a learning environment as possible. We have talked in detail with the event venue and feel confident that every reasonable precaution is being taken for attendees' health and safety.
